I veered away from the Lectionary passage this week because I was captured by the story in Luke 7:1-10, which is about, well, stories. ______________________ One of the things I like about living in Guilford is being able to shop at Forte’s Market, mainly because they have a real butcher counter where they grind the…
One of my morning rituals is to listen to The Writer’s Almanac with Garrison Keillor, which plays at the end of Morning Edition on WGBH, one of our local NPR stations. Each day, he makes note of significant birthdays in the literary world and then reads a poem. He closes each segment by saying, “Be…
When I look back over the life of this blog, it seems I grow silent in Eastertide. Part of the reason, I am sure, is the recoil from keeping my Lenten Journal and writing straight for forty-something days and nights. I don’t know all the reasons, or that they are the same from year to…
Saturday night I cooked dinner for a group of women in our church who have gotten together monthly for many years to share a meal and talk about their lives and their faith. They invited me to come do a sort of cooking lesson and then stay for the discussion. We sat at the table…
We left Sarria this morning with out much sense of where we were going. Yes, we had a map. Yes, we knew our destination was Portomarin. But neither offered a reference point that connected to our lives beyond we were setting out on the first leg of our journey on the Camino de Santiago. We…
I got my last Christmas present Saturday night. It was the best one. Over the past few years, Ginger has given me gifts that are to be experienced rather than collected. Two years ago, she gave me an icon painting class, which led to my friendship with Christopher Gosey, as well as bringing new layers…

A beautiful, loving tribute, Milton. I wish I had had the privilege of knowing your father, but from knowing you, I can see how his legacy lives on.
Thanks, Martha.
How perfectly beautiful and inspiring. Although I never met your Father, I feel I came to know him through this tribute to him. May the Peace of the Lord be always with you.
Julie Cochran
You two would have liked each other, Julie.

Loved watching the slide show, but even more enjoyed having you to the right on my screen, watching and smiling.
Your collection of photos, accompanied by the special music, is a truly lovely and loving tribute to your amazing dad, Milton. Thank you so much for sharing with us. It’s apparent that you are like him physically as well as in your way of relating to your world.
nicely done my friend, very nicely done.
What a moving, sweet tribute to your dad, Milton.
I Love To Tell The Story. Thanks for sharing! Much love to you my friend, Liz

Thankful that we are Looking for a City!
So sweet. You have so much of your dad in you. Love you.
Lost my Dad April 24 of last year. Visited the cemetery yesterday for the first time since then. My son, who missed the service, gave a spontaneous eulogy for himself and his sister. It was exactly what I hoped would happen. Feeling a deep connection with you this morning. This is wonderful and the music is perfect.
Thanks, David.
Peace
Milton
Honor and Gratitude. That’s what comes through for me. How much we grow to resemble our parent!
