Good news to report tonight: Rachel went home today, five days after her surgery. She is in good spirits and is feeling well, all things considered. Now the challenge is figuring out how life will look for her and Reuben, my father-in-law, who has some issues of his own. Thanks again for your prayers. On…
I was back in the pulpit this morning after having a week away to celebrate Ginger’s birthday with some dear friends. (I’m sort of blowing the intro to the sermon, but so be it.) The passage for today was John 17:1-11, which is part of Jesus’ prayer the night before he died. ___________________________ As most…
I know the Revised Common Lectionary doesn’t point to the story of Jesus’ forty days in the wilderness until the first Sunday in Lent, but it seems to have more layers when it is taken in context between Jesus’ baptism and his sermon in Nazareth where they deemed him unrecognizable. I’ll find something else for…
Last night Ginger and I spent the evening at Fenway Park watching our Boston Red Sox play the Cleveland Indians. Fenway is one of my favorite places. The nearly century-old park in one of the few not named after a corporation. It’s also one where you have to lean a bit to see around the…
I’m not a mathematician. I know enough to explain what pi is, but that’s about it. I didn’t even make it to the end of the book The Life of Pi. As I said yesterday, Pi Day is Pi(e) Day: an excuse to make and eat pie and invite people over to eat with us….
Whatever logic there is to the Revised Common Lectionary (the preaching schedule followed by a lot of mainline Protestant churches), part of it seems to be to skip over passages that are tough to preach on, even when they are well known verses. One of those came up last week. ___________________________ Ginger and I were…

A beautiful, loving tribute, Milton. I wish I had had the privilege of knowing your father, but from knowing you, I can see how his legacy lives on.
Thanks, Martha.
How perfectly beautiful and inspiring. Although I never met your Father, I feel I came to know him through this tribute to him. May the Peace of the Lord be always with you.
Julie Cochran
You two would have liked each other, Julie.

Loved watching the slide show, but even more enjoyed having you to the right on my screen, watching and smiling.
Your collection of photos, accompanied by the special music, is a truly lovely and loving tribute to your amazing dad, Milton. Thank you so much for sharing with us. It’s apparent that you are like him physically as well as in your way of relating to your world.
nicely done my friend, very nicely done.
What a moving, sweet tribute to your dad, Milton.
I Love To Tell The Story. Thanks for sharing! Much love to you my friend, Liz

Thankful that we are Looking for a City!
So sweet. You have so much of your dad in you. Love you.
Lost my Dad April 24 of last year. Visited the cemetery yesterday for the first time since then. My son, who missed the service, gave a spontaneous eulogy for himself and his sister. It was exactly what I hoped would happen. Feeling a deep connection with you this morning. This is wonderful and the music is perfect.
Thanks, David.
Peace
Milton
Honor and Gratitude. That’s what comes through for me. How much we grow to resemble our parent!
