love wins
This has been an important week in North Carolina, and our church has been at the center of things here in Durham. Here is a story that ran on our local NPR station, WUNC.
Peace,

It was on a summer day some thirty years ago that I sat across from my friend Billy for our fifth or sixth consecutive night of eating lobster at Nunan’s Lobster Hut in Kennebunkport, Maine. I loved lobster, so the chance to eat there night after night was heaven. Until it wasn’t. Towards the end…
This week we had a crisis at our house related to Lizzy!, our little dancing extrovert of a Schnoodle who went blind suddenly, or at least so we thought. That story is still unfolding, but in the process of things, she made it into my sermon, which draws from Isaiah 40 and Mark 1. ______________________…
Mary and Martha have been compared for years. Maybe there’s a different way to look at it. ___________________________ I find it interesting that Luke tells the story of Jesus’ visit to Mary and Martha’s house right after the parable of the Samaritan that we read last week. We don’t have any real indication that one…
For almost as many years as we have been married Thursday Night Dinner has been a significant ritual in our lives. We invite folks over for dinner, I cook, and then we sit around and talk until we get tired. Over the past couple of years, thanks to Facebook and Twitter and my iPhone camera,…
I guess it is safe to say that my making soup for the carolers before they go out to sing on the Second Sunday of Advent is a tradition, since I have now done it for three Advents. I had recipes for two of the soups I made: Pumpkin Corn Chowder and Uncle Milty’s Guinness…

I turned one in the course of the journey from Texas to Africa. None of us had much idea of what we were in for. Though Southern…
Beautiful!
And Congratulations to Nancy Ruth and Wynolia!
Congratulations to you all ! What a joyous occasion to celebrate a long fought battle — and 23 years of patience and love. Thinking of you always, Mary
God bless all of you — Nancy Ruth and Wynolia, the state of North Carolina, the United Church of Christ, Ginger and Milton, the members of your church! You give hope to us here in Kansas.
Good news! Joy to all.
I live in Greensboro and one of my friends posted an article on FB that mentioned your wife. Though we haven’t met, I was so proud for you!
Wonderful. loving news from the folks at Pilgrim Church-thanks to Milton and Ginger.
What joy! I remember this day last year here in NM when our associate pastor (UCC, of course!) went to City Hall to marry couples who were getting their licenses. I also remember another day in Boston over a decade ago when the first couples were getting married. Your strength and determination are an inspiration to us all, Ginger & Milton, to press for social change and love.
