love wins
This has been an important week in North Carolina, and our church has been at the center of things here in Durham. Here is a story that ran on our local NPR station, WUNC.
Peace,

these are my favorite days when the summer’s shellacking is painted over by fall’s crisp palette of expectancy and comfort I want to match the colors with aromas savory and sweet — layers of flavor and hope that sustain as the nights grow longer and winter hangs on the horizon barren branches and grey mornings…
Everything was new for our new year: new place, new people, new traditions. We drove up to Raleigh, as Andy and Barney used to say, for their First Night celebration, one of the grandchildren of the original First Night in Boston. We heard some good bluegrass, Ginger saw an African dance company, and we spent…
I got my last Christmas present Saturday night. It was the best one. Over the past few years, Ginger has given me gifts that are to be experienced rather than collected. Two years ago, she gave me an icon painting class, which led to my friendship with Christopher Gosey, as well as bringing new layers…
I preached this sermon at the end of a long week and the stories wound together. _____________________ A couple of weeks ago, Ginger was helping Lizzy!, our little blind Schnoodle, find her way outside from our kitchen. Lizzy! got down the stairs to the patio on her own, but then she had to turn either…
One of the books I read and reread as a youth minister was David Elkind’s The Hurried Child, which was his take on adolescence in the 1980s. My guess is it still holds up pretty well. One of the things I took away from that book (or at least I remember it coming from that…
The Sunday Sonnet will be a Monday Sonnet because of power issues at the house tonight. I would like to say thanks to Duke Energy for responding so quickly. Peace,Milton
Beautiful!
And Congratulations to Nancy Ruth and Wynolia!
Congratulations to you all ! What a joyous occasion to celebrate a long fought battle — and 23 years of patience and love. Thinking of you always, Mary
God bless all of you — Nancy Ruth and Wynolia, the state of North Carolina, the United Church of Christ, Ginger and Milton, the members of your church! You give hope to us here in Kansas.
Good news! Joy to all.
I live in Greensboro and one of my friends posted an article on FB that mentioned your wife. Though we haven’t met, I was so proud for you!
Wonderful. loving news from the folks at Pilgrim Church-thanks to Milton and Ginger.
What joy! I remember this day last year here in NM when our associate pastor (UCC, of course!) went to City Hall to marry couples who were getting their licenses. I also remember another day in Boston over a decade ago when the first couples were getting married. Your strength and determination are an inspiration to us all, Ginger & Milton, to press for social change and love.
